Owner Claire Wright of Cosecha Textiles opens her professional sewing and upholstery workroom to the public for free community DIY nights as well as more intentional and focused all-day classes where you can learn to upholster, design, sew, fabricate, mend, and more.

Are you really interested in a specific class or have an idea for a class and a group of friends that you’d like to do it with? Just get in touch and let us know and we can design a private class for you and a group of 3 or more friends to fit your schedule.

Learn the art of Upholstery with professional Claire Wright. In this deep dive intensive three day course we will learn to reupholster your very own chair from start to finish. You will select your chair, purchase your fabric through Claire, then learn to deconstruct and reconstruct from start to finish. All materials provided**. No experience necessary.

Box Cushions

Intro to Upholstry Sewing

Saturday, November 15, 2025 // $350

9:00AM to 5:00 PM

Lets learn about the basics of sewing the infamous box cushion. We see them everywhere, on your couch, on your boat, outdoor furniture, window seats, etc.

In this fully comprehensive course: we will work with high-quality upholstery fabric, welt cording, zippers, foam, and batting, and even have a chance to use the industrial machines to learn about the simple-seeming but ever-elusive box cushion. We will design, plan, cut, and create like the professionals. We will talk about seam allowances and compression, fabric weave and thread weight. We may even make a couple throw pillows to complete the look!

You will have an opportunity to customize your creation for your space and needs. The cost of the class covers all materials, machines, and supplies.

Not only are the tools at your disposal but enjoy having the expertise and guidance of a professional by your side. Bring a project you’re just starting or already working on and get the turbo boost you need to level up! Alterations, repairs, or custom sewing projects all welcome.
